Microsoft Ending Free Windows 10 Upgrade Offer for Some
We don’t know if this is a sign of things to come for other methods to get the free Windows 10 upgrade offer. Currently, if you have an activated Windows 7 or Windows 8 installation, you can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free; our previous instructions proved it. Here is what Microsoft had to say about its plans for Assistive Technologies users:
You would be surprised to know there are users who still are not aware of the free Windows 10 upgrade offers, even after its highly publicized launch from July 31, 2015, to July 31, 2016. Many held out to the very last minute or still did not initiate the upgrade after Microsoft forced them to download it to their devices. Windows 10 is now stabilizing and starting to mature after five major feature updates; the company is probably looking to monetize Windows again. Microsoft still makes money on Windows from Microsoft Store apps and OEM licensing, but I’m sure the free upgrade must have taken its toll on client revenues. Once a cash cow, Windows has slipped to third place in Microsoft’s revenue stream, behind its Office 365 and Azure cloud services. So, if you still haven’t jumped on the free upgrade, do it now while you can. It’s only a matter of time until Windows 7 and Windows 8 keys and activated installations no longer qualify.
